Female Hormones Play A Significant Role

By Jake Alexandre

It is a known fact that male and female hormones differ from each other. Both have a little quantity of both yet their functions are various. Key female hormones consist of estrogen, progesterone. There are a variety of other female hormones essential to the well being of a woman such as testosterone, cortisal, estriol, DHEA, and the development hormone.

Estrogens are a group of steroid mixtures in the body, and are the major female sex bodily hormones responsible for secondary female qualities. Estrogen is found both in men and women, however, it is present in greater quantities in women. Estrogens are mostly created by establishing follicles in the ovaries. Some estrogens are even produced in smaller amounts by the adrenal cortex, placenta, and male testes.

Progesterone is a female steroid bodily hormone generated by the ovaries throughout ovulation. It stimulates and manages different features in a female body. Besides the ovaries, it is also produced in the placenta and the adrenal glands. It is associated with female menstruation, fertilization, and embryogenesis in the female body.

Estrogen and progesterone balance each other out in the female body. Estrogen is necessary to negate the effects of progesterone and vice versa. This means that a lack of natural estrogen called, estrogen deficiency, or an excess of it, called estrogen dominance, can wreak havoc on the female body. Menopause, stress, and other hormone problems can cause these imbalances leading to the unpleasant symptoms and reduced quality of life. Both excess and deficiency of estrogen cause unpleasing symptoms and health conditions in the female.

Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) is a steroid bodily hormone integrated from cholesterol levels, and produced in the adrenal glands in females. DHEA is an extremely effective prototype to all female major sex hormones: estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone. That is the reason why it is called "mother bodily hormone" as it is the source that fuels the body's metabolic pathway.

The adrenal gland that is responsible for the production of DHEA in women, also makes the stress hormone cortisal. Cortisal is a steroid hormone produced by the adrenal glands which sit on top of the kidneys. It is also known as the stress hormone as it is released in biological response to stress. All female hormones are highly essential to their health.
